Seemed like a good idea at the time 0_o

I created my WordPress before I had any idea what I was doing,. Named it . . . postfartumdepression.
Yeah I know. I can’t believe it either.
HALP!
How can I change this to troublesomedhild please?
Thank you.
Slightly red in the face.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you wanting to have your WordPress.com site appear on your domain? You can do it with the annually renewable domain mapping upgrade.Once you do that, no one will see the underlying original site address.
-
Is this your new blog, which is linked to your username here:
http://troublesomechild.wordpress.com/
(started yesterday, but blank)? And this blog is the other one?
http://postfartumdepression.wordpress.com/
It is also blank.I’m not sure what your question is. Can you elaborate?

Hi justjennifer,
Thank you for your reply.
I an still very new at this, have a lot of studying to do, so I’m not sure I understand your answer.
I want to use WordPress to build my site – troublesomechild.com, so am I correct in assuming that my WordPress account name, or blog name will not appear if I use it to build the site, only the domain name will appear?
And I would like to change the WordPress blog name if possible, really rather not be stuck with that.
Thank you.

Hi 1tess,
I just chose a really bad name for my WP blog and would like to change it if possible.
And, yes, those are my pages.
Thank you.

That’s right. Follow the instructions on that link to buy the domain upgrade. Do the purchase from the dashboard of whichever blog you want to use.

I see, just looked at http://troublesomechild.wordpress.com/
I see the other name doesn’t appear there.
The WP blog I would like to use as a more personal blog, this site:
http://www.troublesomechild.com
I hope to build with WP, but it will be a commercial site.
As you can see, I have NO idea what I am doing . . . yet.
:-)
-
If it’s a commercial site, it doesn’t belong at WordPress.COM at all.
http://www.troublesomechild.com/ is not a WordPress.com site. Go to WordPress.ORG and download the software from there and install it in that webspace. From then on, you’ll find help and pointers at WordPress.ORG, not here. They are two different kinds of WordPress.
-
Ok, thank you raincoaster for clarifying that for me. I am trying to learn a lot of things at once . . . so a little confusing.
Thank you all for your help.
-
You’re welcome. Good luck with it.
We can’t do commercial sites here, in the sense of selling stuff we ourselves didn’t create; the technology won’t work, and it’s banned by the terms of service. But you’re free to use WordPress.org software.
-
Great!
Thank you for your help.
You have all pointed me in the right direction.
Much appreciated!
-
but raincoaster — what about selling stuff we DO ourselves create? i’ve been searching the forums and have found a variety of answers. mostly, “wordpress.COM isn’t for e-commerce” which seems pretty self explanatory EXCEPT when I read things like “selling stuff we ourselves didn’t create.” that begs the question about whether or not wordpress.COM blogs can sell stuff we DO create (art, etc.) thanks!
-
In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM
The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

hi timethief,
“anyone other than yourself, which would be myself” sounds like it’s OK for me to advertise my own work, even though i can’t sell it through my .COM blog.
thanks

Staff have in the past said they encourage artists, authors, designers, etc to use WordPress.com to sell their own wares. The difficulty arises, however, because we can’t use the Buy It Now button or anything like it. Just the Paypal Donate button.
-
Ah Ha! That explains it. Thank you Raincaster and thank you Timethief for taking the time to volunteer.
And that is the difficulty isn’t it. Not being able to use the buy it now button. I’ll figure something out.
Thanks.
