Segments mismatch (date, posts) in WordPress.com FR-CA translation
-
A few days ago, I noticed that WordPress.com in French (Canada) uses the wrong segments. Here are some examples:
– On the list of all posts, or all pages, the column “Date” has been replaced with “petit(e)-ami(e)”, which litterally means “boyfriend or girlfriend”. This is inappropriate.
I suppose that the system is retrieving not the French equivalent for “Date” (uppercase D), but the French equivalent for “date” (lowercase d), which is a completely different context. (Links > Add Link > Romantic > crush, sweetheart, date…)
I don’t want to replace “petit(e)-ami(e)” with “Date”. It would fix the problem in the list of all posts or all pages, but it would create a new problem under Links > Add link.
– Another example that is not so bad but still annoying: on the dashboard, on the left, “articles” starts with a lowercase letter, when it should start with an uppercase A like all the other dashboard sections. It looks like WordPress.com is retrieving an unrelated segment in which “posts” (in lowercase) is rendered as “articles” also in lowercase.

oops ^^ yeah, my bad!, it’s lower-case and blogroll related, sorry!

Hi Sergio.
– On the list of all posts, or all pages, the column “Date” has been replaced with “petit(e)-ami(e)”, which litterally means “boyfriend or girlfriend”. This is inappropriate.
I found a “date” string here (has been translated since 2010):
http://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/fr-ca/default?filters%5Bstatus%5D=either&filters%5Boriginal_id%5D=1441&filters%5Btranslation_id%5D=978042Which has this comment “translators: xfn: http://gmpg.org/xfn/” so it’s ok to translate this one within the context of relationship.
I can’t find any “Date” string though: http://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/fr-ca/default?filters%5Bterm%5D=date&filters%5Buser_login%5D&filters%5Bstatus%5D=current&filters%5Bpriority%5D%5B0%5D=1&filters%5Bpriority%5D%5B1%5D=0&sort%5Bby%5D=original&sort%5Bhow%5D=asc&sorts=Sort&page=6I noticed the issue with “Posts” on the sidebar too.
I’m checking with our developer to see if something is going on with GlotPress or WordPress.com translation process that’s causing the issue. Thanks for reporting! -

Merci bien airodyssey … Ce n’est pas tellement que je sois farouchement contre les petites-amies ou les petits-amis de mes copines ! Mais le jour où le blogue devient coopératif et professionnel, ce serait qu’il affiche “date” … pour éviter les malentendus et les mauvaises blagues.

Everyone: even if this topic is about the French version of WP.com, let’s not forget we’re on the English forum, so it’s best to keep the discussion in English. Also, it makes it easier for WordPress.com staff to understand.

Hi all,
This was caused by a recent change in GlotPress structure.
Both the “Date” on post list page and “Posts” on the sidebar are fixed now. Thanks for reporting the problem!
