Sela – Sort pages by date on "Grid Page" template (wordpress.com)

So I used to run Argent, which supported portfolio entries. Those entries were sorted by date (latest published first).

Now I switched to Sela and doesn’t support portfolio pages (as far as I know) so I basically copied html text from old portfolio to new pages. These pages are ment to be subpages at a page I called “projects” (a preview of each individual project is shown when in “projects”).

    This is the page: https://illanrn.wordpress.com/proyectos/
It’s in spanish, but doesn’t make a change.

So what I want to do is to sort those projects by date. Now, first one shown is the first published when I want it to be the last. Any ideas?

Also, if anyone could tell me a way to stop subpages from dropping down the main page on the top bar, I would really appreciate it.

P.s.: I’m on WordPress.com so as far as I would love to get into css, html and so on; i’m not allowed.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi illanrn,

Now I switched to Sela and doesn’t support portfolio pages (as far as I know)

Sela isn’t primarily a portfolio theme but portfolio projects can still be added. Proyectos is your portfolio page and there are several projects listed there at the moment (in the grid format).

So what I want to do is to sort those projects by date.

Portfolio projects are ordered by the date they’re created, with the most recent displayed first — they can be reordered by changing the publish dates on individual projects under Project Settings (cog icon) > Status.

if anyone could tell me a way to stop subpages from dropping down the main page on the top bar, I would really appreciate it.

You don’t currently have a primary menu selected. The menu can be edited by going to My Sites > Customise > Menus > View all locations.

From there, select “Primary” under “Primary Menu” and you will then have the option to choose which links to include in the menu (when you go back to My Sites > Customise > Menu > Primary).

I’m on WordPress.com so as far as I would love to get into css, html and so on; i’m not allowed.

There is a HTML tab on the editor but custom CSS is only supported on the Premium plan.

    I hope this helps!

Hi gemmacevans and thank you for your response.

I did what you said about the menus and I think it is fixed now! The ‘Proyectos’ thing isn’t fixed yet, though.

You say that porftolio pages are sorted by date, but those squares you see in grid format in the ‘Proyectos’ page aren’t porftolio pages, but regular site pages instead. I did this botch because I couldn’t manage to show porfolio pages in that grid format (I don’t know how to assign porftolio as subpages), so I just copied what I had an made it site pages instead.

So what I would like to do is either:
    1. sort the site pages with the projects (not portfolio pages) by date (newest first). Now are sorted by date but older first (so Lean is the first thing published, Showcase is the second…). Any idea of how I could make latest published appear first? (so Psi would be first, then Espacio de Clase…).
    2. Assign porftolio pages as subpages of ‘Proyectos’. Last time I tried I couldn’t, therefore I copied

I’m sorry my english is no wonder. I don’t know if I made any clear the problem.
Maybe it will be easier this way: I need a site page with ‘grid page’ template to show in squares subpages (in this case, my projects). How can I assign as subpages a porftolio page?

Again, I’m so sorry to bother

    Update,

Just discovered that if I type [porftolio] on the HTML part, that page shows in grid format every porftolio project. However, still shows first those published before (so older projects appear on top). I don’t really know why. Any way to manually change this?

You may want to consider using the Portfolio shortcode. There are a number of attributes you can use with the shortcode that allows you to control the display and order of the projects, and number of columns.
