Sela Theme
-
I am using the Sela theme. I have a grid page set up with a few child pages. I am trying to figure out how to make the grid page NOT include the paragraph text with its associated picture. I just want the title displayed. The Sela grid page displays the way I would like my page to: with the title being the only text below the picture. Then when you click the picture, you are taken to the appropriate page that shows the paragraph text. Does anyone know how to
Here is my grid page:

Also, in the navigation at the bottom of the page: is there a way to make the sub nav items only appear on hover?

Hi,
Your result and my tests showed that below each item in a grid page the Sela theme will show, by default, the page content or excerpt of the page content (with the formatting omitted). The demo actually does display an excerpt, but it’s a brief excerpt that has been added to the excerpt module of the page editor. See the Creating Excerpts sections of the Excerpts support page.
The only way I know of to display no page content excerpt for an item with page content on the grid page would be to trick the theme by inserting a tag in the excerpt module of the corresponding page editor. I successfully prevented an excerpt from displaying by inserting a
<br>tag in the excerpt module. -

I believe you’re using a Pages widget. That can’t be modified to hide children. Outside of creating a drop-down Site Map in Custom Menu in the header navigation bar, I can’t at the moment think of another easy option. I’ll let you know if I think of something.

There might be other themes on which the Pages Widget displays children when you hover over a top item, but I don’t know of any offhand.

Thanks for the info on the
tag being used in the excerpt, that was really helpful! In the footer widget area, I removed the Custom Menu widget and replaced it with a custom menu I made in the Menu section of my dashboard. I still don’t see an option to display the children on hover. Is there another way to add a custom menu that will allow me to choose a “show on hover” effect like the main nav at the top of the page?
Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it!

You’re welcome. : )

Not that I know of.

Custom menu widgets don’t have a display as drop-down option. Above I suggested using a navigation bar custom menu, with a top item labeled “Site Map,” which could include all the items in your custom menu widget.
