SELA theme – adding the overlay
-
Hi
I am new with WordPress and a beginner with HTML and CSS. I am having trouble adding the overlay to my featured image on the static front page. I have tried reading the various threads, but still having issues. Can anyone kindly help me set-up my static front page?
Thank you so much in advance

It looks like you’ve figured out how to add the overlay. But how were you able to make it more tranlucent?

Looks like this is the custom CSS that was used for that effect. The opacity is what adds the translucency.
.front-page-content-area .with-featured-image { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #fff; color: #000; opacity: 0.65; } -

Can someone help me with the CSS for adding the overlay? I have the static home page but cannot seem to figure out how to add it.
Thanks in advance!!

@ jdaoud33,
It doesn’t require CSS. The overlay appears on the Sela theme on any page assigned to the Front Page Template in Page Attributes. You do not presently have a static front page on https://simplyjules2.wordpress.com/. Are you referring to that site?

jdaoud33 – as musicdoc1 said, your site is currently displaying your latest posts, and not a static front page. If you’d like to set up one, follow the guide here:
…and then select the Front Page template for your new front page, as described in the Sela setup guide:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sela/
Once you have things set up as described there your site should look more like the Sela demo, with the overlay on the main featured image.
Let us know if you need more help.
