    Hi,

I would like to know if I can use this theme on wordpress.org self hosting and most importantly, if It is possible to add a shopping cart to this theme or if I have to get a woocommerce theme to sell one product with potentially different prices?

    Thanks

  • Yes, Sela is available for self-hosted sites here:

    Sela

if It is possible to add a shopping cart to this theme or if I have to get a woocommerce theme to sell one product with potentially different prices?

You can use Sela with WooCommerce, though you’ll want to declare explicit support for WooCommerce and possibly make other tweaks in a child theme.

If you need help with the self-hosted version of Sela, please ask in the Sela forum:

    https://wordpress.org/support/theme/sela

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:

  • Also wanted to let you know about a new Storefront child theme called Stationery that was created by the same designer as Sela. If you find that Sela requires too many tweaks and you’d rather find something else, perhaps Stationery would fit the bill.

So, once I download wordpress.org would it just be simpler to use woocommerce themes? Or can Sela use plugins for a cart? Are there other options to get a cart on a website?

    Thanks so much!

The theme and WooCommerce plugin are two separate things.

The plugin adds the ecommerce functionality, while the theme displays the content. You are welcome to experiment with whatever themes you like. WooCommerce themes are already tested with the plugin. Other themes may need style or layout tweaks to work well with WooCommerce, or they may not — it really depends on the theme.

Are there other options to get a cart on a website?

There are other ecommerce plugins available for WordPress., but I’d suggest you ask in the WordPress.org forum for suggestions as that’s really outside the scope of this forum, which is about WordPress.com.

I’m closing this thread but feel free to ask any further questions over at WordPress.org.
