Sela Theme Demo

There is a link in the info for the Sela Theme to “Copy the look of the site demo” and even though I have followed the link, selected my page and tried to activate it – It’s still showing a blog page.

I tried to go through by Adding a page and following the steps also listed…but with no luck.

Please help!! If a WordPress tech sees this, I have two sites, but need it for SavoringSingleBOOK. (not the bookclub one). Thanks in advance!!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Every theme has a detailed theme description page and like this one at https://wordpress.com/theme/sela and that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found. The live demo site is at https://selademo.wordpress.com/

A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

Any WordPress site can be restructured from being page based (website style) to being post based (blog style) – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > Five Step Blog Setup

@savoringsinglebookclub: I can see you’ve followed those steps to set up a static front page on your site now. It looks great! :) Are there any remaining questions that we can help with? If so, don’t hesitate to reply back here.

I was determined to figure it out. Turns out the directions that say you have to have pages/media, etc before the theme would work…. was in a separate section above the link I was trying to use. Took me re-reading it a few times as I had just passed over the intro description of it.

Thanks for checking in, though! Ya’ll are amazing!

I’m glad your determination paid off. 💪 Your feedback on finding the theme’s documentation is really appreciated too. We should make that easier!

Please feel welcome back to reply back on this thread if you have any other questions.

Hello, Im having the same problem with my blog: https://catedradepazgrancolombia.wordpress.com/
The front page doesn’t have all the widgets of the demo. What do i need to do?

  • Unknown's avatar

@catedradepazincograncol: I see you’ve already assigned the “Front Page” page template to your home page. You should therefore be seeing the “Front Page Widget Areas” when you navigate to the Widgets panel in the WordPress.com Customizer.

If you’re still not seeing those widget areas then please can you start a new thread on this forum? You can do that here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes#postform

It’s easier for us to keep track of different questions if they’re kept to separate threads and also prevents the original poster from receiving unnecessary email notifications.

    Thanks!
