Thanks. I appreciate your generosity in taking so much time to educate a beginner. :)

That’s fine. You and others have helped me heaps. See you around!

  • @unklee: I had a look at your site, and the columns appear to be responsive. Nice work with the customizations!

Do you have any other questions, or are you all set for now?

Hi Ryan, no I think I am fine thanks. Thanks for taking a look. The trick for me was finding where I could download the entire CSS file and search for media queries. before that I didn’t know exactly what to code.

    Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Hi! I’m trying the Sela theme because I love the big image on the homepage. But I can’t seen to get the size of the featured image “large”. The image stays small… :(

    @sigridtestcase,
You’ve got to begin with a large image. See the Quick Specs section (shaded gray) at the bottom of the Sela theme support page.

Aaarrrrggghhh, can you tell me how I make a connection between the homepage widget (I have three text widgets placed on the homepage) en the menu at the top?

  • Unknown's avatar

    @ sigridtestcase,

Which website are you referring to? I’m not sure what you mean by linking a widget with the “menu at the top.” The widgets may themselves be links, and may link to the same destinations that custom menu items do.

@musicdoc1 I’m working with the Sela thema on a (test)website: https://styling1981.wordpress.com I have placed three widgets on the homepage, but I can’t seen to connect the widget to a menu item…

I have the same question. How do I put this READ MORE thing into widgets on the front page?

  • Unknown's avatar

    @ sigridtestcase,

Custom menus may contain internal links to posts, pages, projects, images, or external links. Widgets also may contain links to the same kinds of destinations. But I don’t understand why you would want to link a widget to a menu item.

Perhaps you mean link widget content to a post or page which is also linked to in a custom menu? If so, then the Text Widget Links support page should be helpful.

    @ pointcamp,

The “read more” links in the Sela front page widgets are constructed as text links to selected destinations. See the Text Widget Links support page.

Thanks! Working) One more question if you please.
How are the widgets constructed on the front page? I mean

    FULL WIDTH PAGE
    Picture

This is a full width page template. It’s great for embedding a map, a large video or a contact form. Read more →

    Is it two widgets?

The Sela theme has three front page widget areas which WP confusingly calls the first, second, and third “Front Page Sidebar,” respectively. While the Sela demo has one widget in each of the three areas, each of them can potentially contain a virtually unlimited column of widgets.

The use text widgets linking to examples of three page templates in the three front page widgets of the Sela demo is an arbitrary choice.

Hi pointcamp, I’m not clear on what you’re asking now. I have set up the Sela theme (with some CSS modifications) and it is working well. There are 3 distinct areas on the Sela home page:

    1. The featured area, which can contain a large image and/or text entered as you would on any other page. If you don’t want the text, you can get rid of it by entering some dummy HTML tags – see the discussion at the start of this thread.

So there are no widgets here (as your questions seems to suggest), just text and/or a photo.

    2. The three widget areas making three columns. These each function like any other widget area, such as the standard sidebar widget areas. As musicdoc1 says, you can have as many widgets as you want in each of these, but you’d want to make them all close to the same length.

    3. The testimonial area.

    Hope that helps.

Hi everybody! Let me clarify my question
Sela demo is using three widget area on the front page and I wonder what widgets are used?
I mean combination of picture with text and READ MORE sign linking to examples of pages templates.

    @ pointcamp,

Those are each text widgets, as I mentioned above.
