sela theme overlay box

  i am using the sela theme. i would like to eliminate the box on the homepage section (i think it may be refered to as the overlay box). I have zero coding/css experience, aand am not comfortable palying with that. Any easy ideas to get rid of the box?

  I would also like to make the social icons horizontal rather than vertical on the blog pages. otherwise, they make blogs seem too long, esp on cell phones.

  brianvmullaney.com is a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, hosted by Unified Layer, not by wordpress.COM
