Sela theme social media icons

Alright, copy the html from https://cloudup.com/c7TBMfgzayr into the text widget. Make sure there are no spaces or line breaks when you copy.
Oops, I somehow thought you have a Custom Design upgrade. Without Custom Design upgrade, we cannot get heart icon for Bloglovin profile link.

@ryancowles: it’s http://latinaencph.wordpress.com.
Another question I have: the social media icons on the footer appear to look like a “low res” picture (I know they’re a font), and I think that there’s a border color or something similar around it. Is it possible to remove, so that they have a better appearance, without messing any of the code?
Thanks and sorry if it’s too much work.

@latinaencph
That effect is because of the background color on the element. Let’s make it transparent using this CSS to make them tidy :-)
.social-links ul a { background-color:transparent; } -
staff-happychia Thanks so much!!!! Apologies for this new dumb question but where do I write that code? I don’t have a CSS editor like in self-hosted WP sites…
-
Here is the CSS Editor which is available only for the users with the Custom Design upgrade.

I’ve been following this thread and it’s very useful, but the cloudup link is no longer accessible.
Please can you provide the html to add the social icons from the footer bar into the side menu, in the same style?
-
Don’t worry about the broken cloudup. It is not anyway going to work for you.
Your html would be: https://cloudup.com/cYgEM0DnpJc
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com but it also doesn’t look like a self-hosted WordPress.org based site. Is that right?
-
staff-happychia thank you so much!
You’re right my profile links to my professional site, which is hosted elsewhere, but the domain was purchased through wordpress.com
The site I am using the social links for is my blog, which is linked to this account, but not yet public.
I realised when I saw the Cloudup content you provided that I could copy what I needed from the footer of my blog using Firebug and paste into the text widget and it has worked. :)
Thanks again for your help, this was brilliant.
When I push my blog live I’ll let you know!
-
I am glad you figured that we can copy the footer html to text widget :-)
I look forward to check your site once it is public.

Hi! staff-happychia – could you help me do the Sela social icons in my sidebar? I don’t have premium so I need help with the coding, and the cloudup links weren’t working :( Thank you!!
-
Sure, what is your blog name please? And have you checked Add Social Media Buttons to Your Sidebar or Footer support document?
Never mind those Cloudup links. The content is blog specific and hence you won’t be able to use them anyway.

Hi all! I’m having the same issue as the site that created this forum (https://hauteculturefashion.wordpress.com/), and am hoping to achieve the same look they did with the Sela social media links on the sidebar instead of the footer.
I tried using the ‘add social media buttons to your sidebar’ article that chaitanyamsv mentioned, but I couldn’t find a way to use the same icons that Sela provides (I’d like to keep the pink colored icons so that the page looks cohesive).
Here’s the site it’s for: https://janellepatrick.wordpress.com/
I already have the social links menu set-up with all the links leading to my profiles, and am just hoping to move that menu to the sidebar.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Could you add the html you find in https://cloudup.com/ckqIVC4_U09 and add it to a sidebar text widget?
It is the same html that is building the social icons in your footer. So adding this html to a text widget should display the same icons in your sidebar.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Hello, I’m working on adding my footer icons to sidebar as well and have found this exchange really helpful! However, I’m having some difficulty.
My website is http://www.uncommongrad.com (a wordpress.org site using the Sela theme)
I’d like to have the footer social menu as it is (orange social icon logos with white circle outsides) and have the social menu in the sidebar be the opposite (orange circles with white logos). Does that make sense? Is this possible? I’d also like it to be only the icons (no text underneath). Can anyone help me with the html or guide me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I would also like to get my social bar which is currently in the footer onto my main sidebar. Could you please help me out?
The link to my site is http://www.liveandwalkgood.com/

Please add the html in this link: https://cloudup.com/cHy0X5dxt46 to a text widget in the sidebar :-)
Also, please post your future questions to the WordPress.org forums: https://wordpress.org/support/
This forum is only for WordPress.com users. In case you wonder, please check the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
