Selecting which part of a featured image displays
-
I often use the same image in the blogpost as I do for the featured image. However, the featured image always displays the centre of the image, which means that it sometimes crops the part I most want to show.
It would be very helpful if it was possible to select which part of the image to show as a featured image (as you can do when selecting the featured header, or profile pics in Facebook, etc).
What do you think? Is this something that you’ve encountered? (Have you got a work-around?)

Hi there,
You could try to crop the image before uploading, or use the Aspect tool inside the Edit Image tool of the Featured Image. The ratio for the featured images of your blog posts is about 3:2.
To use the Aspect tool, you need to be on the Edit Post screen of your post, click on the Featured image of the Post Settings panel on the right hand side, select the image you want to edit, click on the blue Edit button, then select Edit Image on the top right of the image > Aspect > 3:2 and adjust the frame to the position you want > click Done and Update post.
Hope this helps :)

Thank you!
I’ve just experimented with the Aspect tool (which I hadn’t used before, so thank you for pointing that out), and if I was just using the image for the featured image that would work. But, the problem is that I’d like an easy way of being able to use the same image both in the blogpost and as the featured image – not least to save space…Basically, I’d like to be able to use the Aspect tool to select the part of the featured image I’d like, whilst leaving the original image useable for in the blogpost!
