Selective email subscriptions

I have a personal blog on WordPress but want to start one as the primary website for an organization I serve with.

Most posts are fine for the public to view. There are some announcements we only want members to view or receive. I’d like members to be able to subscribe to this new blog so they can receive email updates of all new posts, but is that possible to do without also allowing non-members to sign up?

I’m eyeballing Sela and Oxygen as possible themes to use. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there.

The only way to control who can subscribe to a blog or not is to set that blog to private. Once the blog is private, only invited members can access it and only invited members will receive notifications. You can either invite members yourself by going to Users ->Invite New in the dashboard, or people can request an invitation by going to the site’s URL and clicking on the link on the placeholder page.

It does not matter which theme you use, as theme choice has no effect on this functionality.
