  Thank you for your assistance. I am new to blogging so also thank you for your patience. I would like to pay to upgrade my account but having a bit of difficulty due to my inability to retain control of my plastic….

  I am not sure as to why you’re not able to upgrade :)

  All you need to do is go here: https://wordpress.com/pricing ; choose the plan of your choice and click on “Start with plan” button and then proceed to make payment. I am also tagging this post with modlook just in case :)
