Self hosted Blog Posts Showing Up On WordPress.com Reader

  Hi, I’m not sure if I should ask this question here, or wordpress.org but I’ll go ahead and ask. Just let me know if this is the wrong forum :)

  So I follow a lot of self hosted blogs on the wordpress.com reader and notice that some blog posts (on self hosted sites) show up immediately after it’s published but some show up after a couple hours (some even after 4 hours later). Why is this the case? and how do I make it so that my posts on my self hosted blog show up quicker on the reader when I publish it? (my posts show up about an hour after published)

  Hi there,

  For self-hosted sites we need to query the site’s RSS feed before the post will appear, and we do that at set intervals, both to lessen the load on our own system, and on your site’s server. If a post happens to be published at around the same time we query the feed, the post will appear instantly, but if not there will be a delay.

  We’re constantly working on this process to make it more efficient and keep the lag as small as possible, but it’s unavoidable that there will be a lag before posts from self-hosted sites will appear in the Reader. You’ll notice this issue with any RSS feed reader, not just the WordPress.com one.
