Self-Hosted VideoPress Install – Can't Link?
-
Hello all,
I’ve got a self-hosted wordpress blog where I’m gone through the steps of purchasing and installing the VideoPress plugin – as per this video:
However when I click the VideoPress icon to insert a video into a post, I do not receive a login page to link my self-hosted blog to my WordPress account. I simply get a blank window, see reference photo below:

Any ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, I have a custom theme via ThemeForest. I am suspicious that this may be the root of the problem. Yet when I switch to the default theme, the problem still exists.

Bravo support bot! Nuisance.
I too have a WordPress.org self hosted site. I too signed up for the WordPress.com account to upgrade to the VideoPress (paid my $60). I then installed Videopress plugin for my .ORG and clicked on the camera icon and it brought up a big blank frame of nothingness. I have not found any solutions for this online but here is where I am now:
1. I have been using Safari 5.0.5 and so I tried loading everything in Internet Explorer.
2. Internet Explorere opened the wind and link me to my.com where the videos were loaded. I was able to insert the shortcode and it worked.
3. DOES NOT work on Safari with sharing/embed turned off.
4. Must turn OFF sharing for it to work. I DON’T want to share!
5. In Internet Explorer a video will play with the sharing off but then I get a “embedding has been restricted by author” in Safari.
Very frustrating!ALSO, I too have a theme from theme forest. I too have found that this is not a hinderance or root of problem. Naked themes have the same issue. Anybody find a solution? My biggest problem is I don’t want to share with anyone except my WP.com and WP.org.

@sotcmmgroup & whatifpoll
Not to worry. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting for them to get to this thread as they do have other outstanding issues to address as well. -
One more thing…
I found in WordPress.com where one can allow a specific site to have video be embedded into. Must disable sharing for this to work. However, when I enter a domain in – sans http:// – NOTHING happens. It doesn’t save, it doesn’t work. Support page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/restrict-videopress-playback-by-domain/Why doesn’t this work? I want it to!

So, we’ve established that it works in IE, but not Safari.
I’d like to hopefully isolate this to Safari if possible.
Would you mind trying in Google Chrome and Firefox too?

Sweet success!
By following the WordPress.com>VideoPress>Restrict VideoPress playback I was able to allow access by a domain while not giving sharing access to everyone!
The problem for me was:
A. My temporary URL I am publishing is a string of numbers. It took a few tries to get the right root domain to take in the “restrict embed playback.” Once I got the root domain in correctly it was a go!Still, it was playing without restricting in Internet Explorer for some reason. One must be careful if only using Internet Explorer as it could appear to work but indeed won’t on Safari or possibly other.
I have not tried in Firefox or Chrome. Works in Opera, IE, and Safari. -
Sorry…I didn’t address the initial problem…. not being able to load the camera icon.
I still can’t do this in Safari. I have to switch over to IE. Tried it in Opera and it worked too. Prompted me to open in a new window>log in to wordpress.com. Perhaps its an internet or security/cookie setting in Safari that it doesn’t connect the .org and .com via the camera icon.To make it more tangled my IE is run on my virtual PC on mac and my Safari and Opera is on the Mac side. Hope sotcmmgroup can get it up and running trying an alternate browser.

Okay, so we’re making headway. Safari, Firefox, and Chrome all couldn’t load the login page as described before. Tried Opera, as per whatifpoll, and it worked.
I’ve uploaded a couple videos, however both of which seem to be stuck processing. I’m getting the “this video will be ready in about a couple minutes” screen, and it’s been at least a half hour. I’ll keep periodically checking.
Also, when I embed the given shortcode, the code does not work. I get an empty post when I preview or publish. I’m assuming that I should be seeing at least the same “this video will be ready in about a couple minutes” screen in place of the video.
I’ll keep you all updated.

We have tracked down the cause of the blank screen and are swiftly working towards a solution.
There’s a slim chance that might work. If not, for now you can upload video via the Media section of your WordPress.com blog’s Dashboard, then embed them on your self-hosted blog using the shortcode provided there.
The processing screen is only for the WordPress.com end. You actually won’t see anything with the shortcode until it has finished processing. If it’s still processing at this time, please let us know!
