Self Hosted WordPress Question

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using the free WordPress option to host a blog. I have a domain name I would like to link to the blog but rather than pay the premium WP account I could easily self host it. The thing is is I like the way I can use the ‘Reader’ section and have all the pro’s of being part of the WordPress community, followers and stats and like etc.

If I host the site myself will I loose all of the ability of the WP community? Or is there a way to still be part of the community and keep the ‘Reader’ section and attract followers and readers?

    Cheers

Hi there, Jetpack will bring to your self-hosted site much (and more) of the functionality that you’ve come to know on WordPressdotcom. However your blog posts won’t be automatically included in the Reader via tags. That is exclusive to sites hosted on WordPressdotcom.

If you use the Jetpack Subscriptions module, WordPressdotcom users will still be able to follow and read your self-hosted site in the Reader and you will of course be able to participate in any of the Daily Post challenges and prompts.

Let us know if you have any other question about this.
