Self hosting?
-
Hello,
I have 2 questions.
1. I am considering to shift from another web-hosting service to WordPress. I am building a blog website using WordPress at the moment to see if I can make this work. The page is currently on private setting.I cannot seem to set up an email sign up form using my Aweber account. I contacted Aweber and they wrote that I have to be using a ‘self-hosted’ service with WordPress to be able to insert a sign up form on a side bar.
What exactly is self-hosted? -is this the same as premium service?2. I have a few different domain names, which I would like to direct to specific pages of the blog I am building. Could I do this? How could I achieve this task?
I appreciate your help in advance. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog I need help with is not indigo and peace. It is another blog that is currently not made public.
I have another question
3. Is it possible to make a page not visible on the main navigation bar; page exists and is linked to the page, but it cannot be seen from the main navigation bar?

Heres a post that will help you understand what is self-hosted WordPress. (also known as WordPress.org )
In short, for using self-hosted WordPress. You will need to download the software from WordPress.org, buy some hosting space and install the software on that Host to create your website.

2) You can direct domains to specific URLs (of pages or posts) using Domain Forwarding feature within the service where you have booked your domain – eg. GoDaddy or similar.
3) You can control what appears on the Main Menu using Appearance >> Menu option

1. As has been noted, this should explain the difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org:
2. This is not possible via WordPress.com. You can use a custom domain (e.g. johnsmith.com) with your WordPress.com site, but you cannot have multiple domains displaying on different parts of your site.
It would be possible to forward johnsmith2.com to johnsmith.com/2 via your domain registrar. But the URL users would see would be johnsmith.com/2.
3. Yes, you can do that. This page may help:

Please keep in mind that staff at WordPress.com can only assist with WordPress.com sites. If you decide to to set up a self-hosted WordPress.org site, your best bet for support will be your webhosts support team or the resources here:
