self-hosting or through wordpress??

    Hi!

    I have been using free hosting for a while now and would like to move to my own domain. My question is what is the difference between buying the domain name directly from WordPress for $17 and from sites like Webhostinghub.com that cost quite a bit more. What would be recommended?

    If you purchase a domain mapping upgrade from wordpress.com then the price of the domain name inluded in it is a mere $5. per year.

The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS.
