Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out. To give you the best solution, it would be helpful to understand your end goal. Are you looking to monetize your book content separately from your regular blog content? Or are just looking for a way to distinguish your book content from your regular blog posts?
In general, you have several options:
1. Paid Content: If you’re looking to monetize your book content directly on your site rather than offer a product or download of some kind, you can limit access to it so that people need to pay to view it with a subscription. This option is provided under your Premium plan so you can start using it today. To do that you can place any content you want to be visible only to subscribers into the Paid Content block:
Use the Paid Content block to accept one-time, monthly, or annual payments on your website for access to exclusive content that you create – video, images, text, or anything at all. Engage your audience with exclusive content while earning money to support your website. Overview The Paid Content block (formerly known as the Premium Content block) allows you to restrict content on a page orYou can think of this block as an empty container into which you can add as much content as you want (text, images, video, any kind of content block really) and while I would not recommend it for entire book, it may be a way to publish your content a chapter at a time, and arrange that content in your site menu so visitors and subscribers can find it.
2. Simple Online Store: Also included in your Premium Plan, you can set up a simple “shop” page on your site and offer products with a payment button that is connected to your stripe account. This will allow folks to purchase a book (either physical or download) without the need to set up a full ecommerce solution. We cover how to use this option in the video on this page: https://wordpress.com/support/monetize-your-site/#collect-payments
3. Full Ecommerce: Alternatively, if you are planning to sell your book as a PDF or any other format, You can upgrade to our Business Plan and then install the WooCommerce plugin on your site, which allows you to sell digital products, and it works perfectly with your WordPress.com. WooCommerce can cater to selling digital products, like your book, with DRM protection too. To learn more about selling products with WooCommerce, check out this guide: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/
To add the Business Plan to your site you can click the button here. You will not pay the price shown here (full price) but instead we will remove the cost of the Premium plan so you only pay the difference.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
