Selling handmade items on my blog?

  From what I understand, it’s ok to use your wordpress.com site to sell items that you make yourself via PayPal buttons and the use of Contact forms. I know that there is no shopping cart feature.
  Can I set up a business website (I’d be buying the Business feature, for $299 a year) and use it as a legitimate business site? As in, I would be blogging about the behind-the-scenes and some how-tos on the business site, but also use it to sell my handmade items. I’m looking for this to be a full time business (I realize I may one day wish/need to upgrade to a self hosted site) and this seems like one of the easier ways to start.
