Selling my items and needs references about it
-
I want to sell my portfolios in WordPress. I have read the caution of using paypal too. But I need some sample wordpress.com blogs who had done selling and succeed, to give me a glance how to do it right.
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Povided you are selling only what you yourself make or a service that you personally provide you have two options.
(1) Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/(2) If you set up an Ecommerce site somewhere else online you can create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ and include a custom link to that site in it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
Some bloggers create a contact form and after the people have made a PayPal donation they provide the link to a private page for downloading files. Maybe that will work for you.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-visibility/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/Otherwise, no blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.
http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/ Here’s what gets a blog suspended:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/suspended-blogs/
http://en.wordpress.com/tos/1. WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.
2. Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.
As far as examples of such sites go I cannot help you with that.
-
Well, it means I am not allowed to promote – advertise – doing ecommerce activity in WordPress.com blog when I haven’t upgraded it, don’t I?
I hope it makes everything clear, at least for me. It is very dissapointed. That’s not what I hope to be, but as I am a starter here, it might be I am wrong here, by misguidance of choosing which theme or what should I do with WordPress with my goals in hand.
Don’t need to worry. I am selling my own portfolios. Hand made portfolios. And I understand WordPress policy on paypal usage.
Thank you for your explanation. I hope my explanation signs you that I have understood what you meant and had same perception about this matter. If I am still misunderstanding, please let me know.
-
If I have no financial power to $299 per year, can I try to keep selling my hand made portfolios? How If I have a membership with Ecwid, and if I have change my theme using custom menu theme, also using paypal in WordPress policy, can I sell my handmade portfolio in wordpress?
Could you help me what can I afford here, because I am just a startup? Do I have other alternatives?
-
You are allowed to advertise, you just can’t buy advertising on WP.com sites except through WP.com itself.
Most of those links don’t relate to you. Don’t worry about them. It’s just a long copypaste, not an answer specific to you.
You can sell your own stuff and use paypal. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/ Simple.
-
Look, let me make it clear. I am new here in WordPress. I don’t know much about what will happen after a buyer click “Buy Now” button, then a blank page will appear to download the given files, etc. I don’t know how to make it, it looks complicated.
It’s easier for me to use an applicable widget for ecommerce as Ecwid. I will obey EVERY single rule WordPress have stated, and so I don’t want to buy advertising on WP.com, if I am not allowed.
What I want here are:
1. I want to install Ecwid in WP.com,
2. I will change my theme also if it is not suitable for Ecwid,
3. I want to advertise it by myself,
4. I want to sell my own products,
5. and I want to close the deal with the buyers using Ecwid.Do I make it clear? Now, am I allowed to do those things?
If you say yes, then I will move on.
Please don’t say something confusing like “those links don’t relate to you”. If those don’t relate to me, why did WordPress send it to answer me?
I will use paypal, but for me it’s not as simple as you say. Just please clarify am I allowed to use Ecwid or not. After this I should do other work to proceed this.

timethief is a volunteer like me, she is not WordPress.com staff, by the way. She has these long copy pastes because we get thousands of the same kinds of questions. Yours was NOT the question that this copy-paste is the answer to. I was trying to tell you that, but don’t worry, I won’t try to tell you anything else, ever.
-
It means I can’t do it without upgrading. So what do you mean of using paypal and become simple? How should I make it?
-
Don’t worry. If you won’t to try to anything else, it’s up to you. You make your own choice.
But couldn’t you think of the opposite? If you become me, after asking a questions, you were replied by so many links that indeed those links are not for you, while you have read ALL those given links. You just been told you have wasted so much time, what will you do?
One more. Do you ever consider what kind of expectation you have given to WordPress by this? I expect more than it. Could you imagine my perception towards WordPress after this?
Yes, you can do anything you want. Just do it.

Okay. Please. I am asking here because I am new with WordPress. I am building my startup business using WordPress, but I can’t afford the payment for a year.
I will obey every WordPress rule, but please let me know, what kind of sales I am allowed here? Please help.
-
I already told you. I gave you two options.
It is not the responsibility of the volunteers to manage the expectations of WordPress.com users, or WP.com’s corporate reputation.
I gave you the two answers that apply.
-
By the two options you gave me,
1. I understand how to link and use Paypal button.
2. If I use custom menu theme, and add a custom link from third party, so it means I can sell by using this? You gave me two options that I think I can do. So does it mean I may go selling? I just need to clarify this so I will not be confuse anymore.
-
1 use the Paypal button
2 Pay $299 a year and use the ecommerce platform you mentioned with a WordPress business upgrade bundle. It has nothing to do with custom themes.
Those are your ONLY two choices for ecommerce on a WordPress.com site.

@apetcher
In fact my copy and paste answer was right flipping on. Also as you don’t have an answer to provide here you are posting off-topic simply to attack me https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards?replies=1We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. Thanks!
