Hi –
Are you trying to set up a recurring subscription for an eCommerce store? Please share more details so I can try and get you pointed to the right direction for help.
In general, you would need our business plan to install plugins on your site. The way that these sites are configured does not lend well to a membership site – The reason being is that your users would need to have a WordPress.com user account and also have a separate account to access their membership on your site.

Hi, sorry:
Essentially, my website is for a personal trainer. He wants a way to charge members for 3 months of coaching, and have it automatically renew.

Ok. Thanks for the extra details. In that scenario, my suggestion is to use WooCommerce plugin.
To get started you’ll want to check out WooCommerce.com
1. upgrade your WordPress.com account to the business plan and install the WooCommerce plugin.
Alternatively, you can do this by using the open source WordPress installation software. This is a bit different from what we do. Those differences are explained here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/2. Find the right subscription for your needs and add it to your WooCommerce account.
Here’s a starting point for setting up a gym on Woo:

Is there anything a little more affordable? I don’t want to drop $200 just on this one function.
