Semi-opaque black section appearing on drafts

  • Unknown's avatar

Preparing a draft blog and after a few paragraphs a semi-opaque black section appears and covers my text. The preview looks fine and doesn’t show the black section. I’ve tried logging out and in again. I’ve also tried copying a previously published blog, but the black section appears on that too. Please can someone help?

The site I need help with is oxfordasiantextilegroup.wordpress.com.

  • Hi there,

Can you tell us what browser you’re using (including the version number, please).

There’s a bug in the editor coming from WordPress.org’s end that’s causing this, mainly in Safari. Once it’s fixed on that end, we’ll also be able to fix it here on WordPress.com, but in the meantime it should work if you use a different browser.

I’m using an up to date version of Chrome. It’s a shame there isn’t a way to send you a screenshot of my drafts so you can see exactly what is happening.

    The browser version is 67.0.3396.87

    Thank you

  • I understand exactly what’s happening. As I said above, this is a known issue.

I can’t tell you when this will be fixed, as we’re waiting for the fix to come from the open source WordPress software itself, but for now using a different browser should help.

  • Hi there,

The recent issue you experienced on WordPress.com (black overlay/veil in the Editor in Safari, Chrome, Firefox) should now be fixed.

Thank you for your patience and please let us know if you need any further help!
