Send email to get download link

In the past I have made some small stuff for people to download if they want.
Usually it will be a zip. There’s been lots of downloading.
Now as I’m moving from .org to .com I still want to be able to post downloads – but – now I want to be more restrictive with what I make available for downloading.I am not asking for payment, but I would like to have something like
“send an email and ask for download link”.
Hopefully I can have more control over who and where.I have no idea how I would go about to set up this – and I have trouble finding words for it to search for it.

Since you’re not collecting payment or anything, have you thought about using the Form block to accomplish this? Based on what you’ve said it sounds like you could set one up that people can fill out and include their email if they’re interested in receiving your product.

We do not have a specific feature for this, but what you can do is set up a contact form on your site using our form builder: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/
This contact form can be added to any page, and you can set up the form to ask that people contact you to get the download. When someone fills out the form, it will send an email to you, and then from there you can email them back (from your inbox) with a link to the .zip file.
