Sending followers only SOME posts
-
I recently moved this site to a filtered blog on a different web site. In other words, the new site’s blog has a lot more than travel on it, but with category filtering, it looks like 2 different blogs.
I have a number of WP followers on the old site and I’d like to keep them, but I don’t want them to receive posts that aren’t related to their interest in my travel writing.
Also, I have to move the followers somehow–the Jetpack migration tool only supports migrating from a wp.com site. I can create a post to notify them about the change and let them follow the new URL, but that takes me back to my first question.
Any ideas how to do this?
P.S. I had a 301 redirect on the old domain for about 30 minutes, then removed it. There’s a possibility that you will be redirected until that is cleared out. But it shouldn’t matter for the purposes of this question.

Hi there, it depends on how you have the site set up, but they may be able to copy the category link into their feed reader and follow that.
yoursite.com/category/traveling for example.Jetpack followers are always subscribed to the full site, though, rather than a specific category. Given that, do you you still want to migrate the followers? If so, can you tell us which site they are moving from, and which site they are moving to?
Also, just noting for Jetpack support, you may want to use this forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackBut we can often help here, too.

The problem is that my new site is covering something very different from travel writing, along with travel writing too. I don’t HAVE to migrate followers, but as I’ve collected a few dozen it would be nice to keep them. I wonder if it’s possible to only push some posts, like a specific category, to the WP readerverse?

That makes sense. Do you use only Jetpack to manage your followers? Or, are you also using some form of email newsletter list offered through a 3rd party plugin?
Also could you let us know the origin site URL of the users, and the destination site URL? Thanks!

I have an email newsletter via mailchimp on the new site, but for my travel blog I relied on Jetpack to push my posts to followers. It’s automated and easy. I’d like to continue that functionality.
Right now it appears that every post is always published to WP.com. I would like to be able to choose whether Jetpack publishes a post to wp.com or not–even a checkbox or something would be fine instead of selecting categories.
Origin site is https://travelingwithmikeandyvonne.com
New site is https://mikebernhardt.net/travel -

None of those two things are possible.
What you can do though is ask in the official Jetpack forums if there’s a workaround or an alternative solution. Community and staff members there might be able to help you out.
