Sending invites to others and make it work

Please help me – I really need help! I’m a teacher and I’m working on a project where I invite my students to the blog, and the idea is that they are going to write their own post. Did it last year and i t worked but now something has happened. I sent invites to my students by email, they accepted the invitation and were able to register to the blog. Still, there are no listed users in my dashboard – and they don’t seem to be able to write posts in their dashboard.

What’s wrong? Their role is not “follower” but author/writer. As I said, did it last year – perhaps that’s the problem since I erased all my students from last year from the user list. Could this have something to to with it?

I know I’m doing something wrong and I don’t have time for this – the project starts soon. Any ideas?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Invitations are acceptable only when the recipient has his account on wordpress. Ask your students to create an account first then send invitations.

Seriously, i this true. Did it last year and it worked. They were able to log in to the dashboard. Could I just resnd the invite o the same adress?

    I’m not joking lol.
I invited a user as an author of my blog and it did ask him to sign up for wordpress account.
So in your first lesson teach them “how to create an account (without a blog)” if you know how to create it lol :)

Followers cannot write their own posts in your blog.

    Follower
Your followers are the people who have signed up to receive updates each time you publish new content. They do not have any editing privileges. If your blog is public, anyone can follow it, but you may want to send out invitations to specific people who you’d like to share your blog with.

    Contributor http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
A contributor can edit their posts but cannot publish them. When a contributor creates a post, it will need to be submitted to an administrator for review. Once a contributor’s post is approved by an administrator and published, however, it may no longer be edited by the contributor. A contributor does not have the ability to upload files/images.

Please follow the directions on adding contributors.

Okey – timethief – I didn’t send invites making them followers but instead of contributor I made them ‘author’. What’s the difference – an author should be able to write, or am I wrong. Furthermore, when I did this project last year I was able to change their role from my dashboard but this time I don’t even see them in the user list.

You can change their role whenever you want, if you have them in the queue.

Ha, I guess you were right from the start then – they need to have an account BEFORE I send them invites. But what happens if I just resend the invites to the same address – I saw he register on wordpress.

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s better to resend invitations on same addresses.

Oh I misunderstood it. Don’t send them e mail invitation again. Just ask them to sign up for an account on wordpress. They will be able to confirm the already existed mail then.

Well, that’s what they did. They confirmed and signed up for an account and then went to the dashboard. But I can’t see them in the user list. I don’t know what to do now but something is wrong.
