Sensitive content published without permission
-
Hi
I have a problem with a wordpress supported blog (I do not want to put the name here, in case the owner sees it and causes problems for me- but I would be grateful if wordpress could contact me). The owner has obtained and published personal information about one of my relatives without my authorisation and consent, and has also published an e-mail which I asked them not to publish, and they have refused to remove this content
I would like to know if I can lodge a formal complaint against this person, or get the content removed.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.
If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.
This is an automated message.

As long as it’s a blog on WordPress.com, you can report it via http://en.wordpress.com/abuse/

There are two types of wordpress sites. Those hosted here, which typically have a “blog at wordpress.com” link at the bottom and then there are self-hosted wordpress sites which will typically have a “powered by wordpress” link in the footer.
Which type is the site you are talking about?

Then you will have to go to the blogger him/herself OR go to the web host. We can’t help you here. Web hosts usually respond to legal takedown notices. Note that if the content they posted is googleable, they might refuse, as it’s not exactly private.

Hi
Thanks fot the quick reply.
I have been to the blogger and they have refused, in fact when I asked them not to publish content they went right ahead and did not exact opposite (yet they respect the wishes of other people not to have thier details published).Who exactly would the ‘webhost’ be and how would I get in contact with them.

You could also put the domain name into http://ismyblogworking.com/ and the resulting report should tell who the web host is.

I always just use Network Solutions website since I have it bookmarked.

Hi
Thanks for the info. They have directed me to another site I have to contact, so I will try that.
