  Hi!
  I’m thinking about installing yoast but have wordpress.com- not sure if it’s worth the $300 investment to upgrade to a business plan- I’m wondering if self hosting would be a viable, less expensive option?

  Can I first ask why you want to install Yoast?

  WordPress.com sites already come with very good SEO out of the box, and at most, a plugin like Yoast will give you more granular control over different SEO settings. You can find details over what’s already included in your free WordPress.com site in terms of SEO here:

  As for the question of the Business Plan vs self-hosting, you’ll certainly find hosting plans that are cheaper than hour Business Plan, but they won’t include the same level of value: Besides unlimited bandwidth, unlimited memory, 200GB media storage, and automatic software updates, our Business Plan also includes enterprise-level security, real time backups, and 24/7 live chat support – these last three are typically only found in higher-end hosting plans which cost more than our Business Plan, or might even require subscribing to a premium third-party service.

  If you’re not too worried about these extras, though, going with another host is an option.
