I have a blog at WordPress because I want to generate backlinks to my website.
When I purchased my .COM, I also bought the .NET and .ORG as well as some others.
I would like to change my DNS so that my WordPress blog becomes my .NET address.
Here is my question:
The best thing for my SEO is to have links coming from a large website like WordPress. If I change my DNS to my .NET, will those links still be coming from WordPress? Or, will they now becoming from my .NET? I want them to come from WordPress so I am afraid I cannot change my DNS and should leave it at the default: *.WordPress.COM
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
Please do be mindful of the WordPress.com Terms of Service when using WordPress.com, particularly the highlighted section at http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
Google sees each subdomain as a different site, so strixelixirs.wordpress.com is a different site than wordpress.com which is different still to a highly viewed site at somethingelse.wordpress.com.
If you’d like to change your site to use your .net domain, you’ll need to add the .net via the Store->Domains page on your site’s dashboard. You’ve already added your .com site, so if you’re not planning on using that for your WordPress.com site, please first remove it via the Store->My Upgrades page so you won’t be asked to purchase another domain mapping upgrade.
In addition to adding your .net domain to WordPress.com, you’ll need to change the nameservers for the .net domain at the registrar where you purchased the domain. More details and step-by-step instructions can be found at Map an Existing Domain.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Cheers!

Thank you. I don’t believe I’m in violation of the TOS. We were offered a blog via our store’s cart software and I decided to use WordPress as our blog because it’s better for my SEO. It will be used as a normal blog.
I do know how to make the changes described above. My question is, for SEO purposes, is it better to have a *.WordPress.com or a DNS change to my .NET?

Sure thing—I don’t think you’re in danger, but hearing “backlinks” makes me just want to bring that to your attention so we’re on the same page :-)
There isn’t a strong SEO motivation between the two. I would actually lean toward using your own domain name so if, in the future, you ever migrate to a WordPress.org self-hosted site, you can keep all of your links the same and maintain any SEO gained from your blog.
Cheers!
