SEO and Domain Mapping

Ok, so technically speaking I’ve figured out (i.e., other people explained for me) a couple of options to sack crmvendors.wordpress.com. Domain mapping at wordpress, or forwarding / masking via GoDaddy.

Now, my question is should I do this at all. From an SEO perspective is the wordpress.com domain, and any of its subdomains (xxx.wordpress.com) better for organic searches than something on my own domain (themarketingmojo.com).

Can anyone comment on the SEO impact, or even suggest SEO tips and strategies?

btw, right now I’m using forwarding. The impact of which I notice is that I can reach the blog by both domains (crmvendors.wordpress.com + themarketingmojo.com). Does this in some way impact SEO – having two different paths to the same content?

I am not an SEO expert, but I just moved a domain to wordpress.com. With a domain on wordpress.com you have the same SEO-advantage as any blog/website om wordpress.com, neither less nor more. There’s no difference to being domain.com or wordpress.com from an SEO perspective. From a branding perspective I would of course suggest domain.com over wordpress.com. Finally, it also depends on how clever you are in using tags and categories. Smartly used some tags and categories will even promote you to the wordpress.com front page. So the answer is YES, make crmvendors.wordpress.com into themarketingjojo.com.

Do NOT use forwarding. Effectively these will be seen as two domains. That is not a good strategy SEO wise. It’s double content, and Google does not like that.
