I have a web site with Weebly, which is not getting any Google rankings. I’ve been told that I should switch from Weebly to an open format like Word Press to increase my search engine rankings. Several months ago, I hired an SEO specialist to review snf inprove my web pages. Unfortunately, I still am not getting ranked.I use my site to market a guidebook to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. If I don’t get search engine exposure, I am not able to sell any of the guidebooks. My Site URL: http://www.myislandways.com. I am readyy to switch to Word Press if this will help. Wondering if there is a simple way to convert my existing Weebly format to Word Press or do have to start all over with Word Press by creating a new web site? If the latter, any suggestions as to how to best accomplish this? I am definitely a beginner with web site creation and publication.

Hey @islandman1, there are a lot of factors that can contribute to seo. WordPress.com is fast and optimized for seo which helps but just moving to wordpress.com won’t improve your rankings automagically.

You should consider improving the design of your website. A good looking website can drastically improve the user interaction and conversions. Please also learn the seo basics and how to structure your content.

You will also have to be proactive in promoting your website. Try writing blog posts frequently related to the subject matter and make a social presence. Share it with relevant groups in social media. You can also consider advertizing your website on various platforms.

If you have not set up google search console and analytics, set them up so you can get detailed metrics and suggestions for your website.

What did your seo specialist do? Did they create any reports regarding technical seo?

You can move from weebly to here easily by following the guide at https://transferto.wordpress.com/weebly/

SEO has a lot of nuances these days, and are way more complicated than it was 10 years ago.

The internet uses robots to scan all of the internet’s contents, so to see changes that you made can take up to 3 to 6 months before you see any results.

Seeing that you are trying to market your book, I would suggest using other forms of digital marketing perhaps? (I always suggest having a Google Ads budget incorporated with Facebook ads for retargeting to the people who have already visited your website).

Back to WordPress, I would suggest plugins like Yoast SEO and a couple more that you can find through a quick Google search “best SEO plugins for WordPress” as a good start. Problem is just that to be ranked first is a lengthy process and does take a lot of time and energy.

    Hope my input helps.
