SEO – Google Alerts not finding my blog
-
Hi,
I have a blog that is targeted at a fairly narrow niche. It is new and not widely read yet. However, the topics are very specific. My issue is that I have Google Alerts set up for this narrow subject area and my posts are not being “found.”
Is this a problem or just a matter of being patient and continuing to build content on the blog? Also, from cruising the forums I see that WP does a good job with SEO, but any tips on ways to accelerate discovery would be helpful, i.e. is there something to be done with CSS, tags, key words, etc.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
We frequently hear from those who have published posts and who can’t find them simply because they have not been indexed by the 3 big search engines.Assuming you verify ownership of your blog with the 3 big search engines, and you hunker down and begin to create an archive of high quality unique content blogging 5 days of the week, did you know that the average time frame before one sees their blog posts surfacing in the SERPS (search engine page results) is 4 – 6 weeks?
Granted this timeframe may be shorter if:
you have verified ownership of your blog with the 3 big search enhines;
any of your posts has been backlinked to by other bloggers in their new posts;
or if any posts “go viral”.It’s important that you use keywords appropriately and correctly tag and categorize all of your posts. Other SEO tips and promotion tips can be found by clicking my username and heading over to my Popular Posts page.

Timethief,
I’ll have to check, but I have two active blogs that are with WordPress.com, so I’m in the right place. They are as follows:
http://blog.legalholdpro.com/
http://blog.zapproved.com/Thank you kindly for your advice. I’ll get to work on creating more content!!
Thanks,
C -
Your zapproved blog is indexed by Google:
http://ismyblogworking.com/blog.zapproved.com
Your other blog is not well indexed because you’ve set it to “block search engines” on the Privacy tab:
http://ismyblogworking.com/blog.legalholdpro.com
As for the question of why your posts aren’t showing in Google Alerts, you’ll have to ask Google. There’s nothing on the WordPress side that is making your zapproved blog inaccessible to Google. Beyond that point, what they do is up to them.
