SEO Help?

    Hey guys,

I’m seeing this all the time: I make a unique post with a unique idea and even make unique art as well. It gets attention and is shared a lot. Then I google that specific thing and it’s not my site that appears, but another site using my stuff.

Take my most recent post: http://davesgeekyideas.com/2015/02/08/jurassic-park-bunk-bed/

I search for “Jurassic Park Bunk Bed” and I’m seventh in search listings, and for an image search I see my image listed as a nerdapproved.com image (my site doesn’t appear).

So despite being making original content, why does my site get pushed aside in favor of another site rebroadcasting it? Shouldn’t my site be top-listed (in regular search and image search), because it’s the origin of the content? Also because the content is unique? I design stuff that doesn’t exist, that’s the goal of that blog.

    Any advice would be great.

    Hi Dave,

Our SEO is pretty good and if you would like more information on this, you can take a look here:

    All About SEO on WordPress.com

    SEO and Your Blog

Note that we have no control over how Google or any other search engine displays your site in their index. That is entirely up to them, and it can take nearly 4-6 weeks for search engines to update.

I looked into Jurassic Park Bunk Bed and found that your site was on the first page as seen here:

    Screen Shot

It is normal for news to show up first as your post was featured in an article. Then, you have 3 sites ahead of yours which are fairly popular sites that post very often, which may be why yours comes up right below them (this is just a guess on my part). The sites above you post nearly 7-18 times just in the last day.

Thanks. I guess proper content attribution isn’t Google’s strong suit. Can you please delete this ticket?
