SEO Problems

Hello, I’m having several SEO problems that I need to fix…

    – My title being too long (207 chars). My title is actually 55 chars. I’m pretty sure it’s saying this because my tagline is acting as a suffix for my title which I REALLY REALLY don’t want.

    – Having 21 H1 headings. I presume these are for the post titles. Any idea on how to fix?

    – No keywords. That’s really bad. I expect that there’s no way of adding keywords to your WordPress.com site… Sigh.

    – 2 iFrames. I can’t find them. I do have 1 video in the featured post on my home page though.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

  • Where are you getting this information from? It doesn’t really sound like valid SEO concerns at all.

    1. Your complete title is indeed “Club Penguin Cheats By Coolpoo78 | Club Penguin Cheats” but that has no impact on your search engine ranking. If you’re concerned, you can just delete your tagline.

    2. Those are the post titles and a few other bits, again no impact on search ranking, and actually a common practice on many sites. A different theme may treat those differently.

    3. Meta keywords haven’t been used by Google and the other major search engines since 2006.

    4. That would be the Video and the Like button, but iframes have no impact on search ranking.

Several SEO analysis websites that I’ve looked at.

    1. I’m pretty sure my title is ‘Club Penguin Cheats 2013 — Codes, Coin Cheats and Secrets’. Apparently it’s bad to have a long title.

    2. Apparently the maximum amount of H1 headings is 2.

    3. I find this strange because all of the ‘SEO tips’ websites I’ve looked at this year have stated that meta keywords are fundamental.

    4. I know that iFrames are not indexed by search engines and don’t do anything but I’ve read that it could hurt your ranking.

By the information you’ve provided me with, I’m gathering that most of these websites that are apparently ran by ‘SEO professionals’ are just out-dated junk that are misleading everyone.

Thank you very much for your response.

Is there any way of removing the tagline from the title? I want it to act as my meta description but I don’t want it in my title as it’s making my result in search engines look ugly. ;P

  • No, most search engines also haven’t made use of the meta description tag for a number of years.

Google in particular only uses the meta description tag when there is no other content found on the site initially. Since your site is a blog, there is plenty of content that it would use instead.

If I removed my tagline and had a sticky post with my desired description, would it use that?

  • Sure, that could potentially work I suppose. It’s still up to Google, but that sounds like a reasonable expectation.
