SEO Question
-
I thought my site was registered with Google but it doesn’t seem to be showing up in Google search at all… I’m not getting on pages 1-10 of each search. How do I double-check what’s happening? Do I need to start over?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @chadsmithdad,
You often need to wait a couple of weeks before Google indexes your website on their search engine. There is no exact time that determines how long it will take. It could be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
However, creating a Sitemap and submitting it to Google Webmaster Tools will help your website be discovered faster. In WordPress.com the sitemap is automatically generated and you can find it at yourblogname.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml. WordPress.com also automatically sends notifications to Google every time you publish or update a post or page, so basically the only thing, regarding SEO (search engine optimization), that you have to worry about is writing quality content.

Hi chadsmithdad –
The only thing I will add in addition to what has been previously shared is that you need to make sure your site stays publicly visible in order for it to be indexed, or picked up by search engines. Typically it takes about 6 weeks for Google to pick up a new site.
Write back if you have any other questions.
