im wanting to know if Google can access/read the content shown via recent post widget. Is it better for SEO to post actual links on a page/post rather than displaying links via recent post widget.

Does content displayed by recent post widget (or any other widget that display info on a page/post) count as actual text on that page/post?

its all the same question, just wanting to understand the difference between actually posting links & using a widget to do it? (for seo impact)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,

It’s great to see you’re thinking about the SEO impact of your content. When it comes to the recent post widget, the content displayed is typically dynamically generated from your actual posts, so it should be accessible to search engines like Google. However, posting actual links on a page/post can give you more control over the anchor text and how the links are presented to search engines.

In general, using both internal linking within your content and the recent post widget can help improve your site’s SEO. It’s important to ensure that the content displayed through widgets is accessible and indexable by search engines, which is usually the case with standard WordPress widgets.

If you’d like to have more control over how your recent posts are displayed and linked, you might want to consider using a dedicated related posts plugin, such as Jetpack or Yoast SEO, which can provide more customization options and potentially offer more SEO benefits.

I hope this helps clarify the differences and options for optimizing your site for search engines. You may also want to check out our free course on understanding SEO which is a great foundation for understanding how to best optimize your site: https://wordpress.com/learn/courses/intro-to-seo/
