Hi. When I go into dashboard > settings > general — There are fields for Title & ‘Tagline’- Assuming that tagline was the description I completed the info to find out that the tagline is actually part of the title as well. What’s the purpose of having two separate fields for the title and describing them as if they are something different?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The ‘Title’ represents the title of your blog, whilst the ‘Tagline’ is more like a short description of your blog.

What I’m saying is they are both in the same place — In the title tag, meaning both fields are sending the information to the same location in the code of the website. I got the yoast SEO plugin anyways but I think it is misleading to the user so I wanted to mention it.

I’m in the process of making my website. I am new to all of this, so it’s been a bit challenging. I was reading about SEO. I read the forum you have on the site about it. It just doesn’t seem to be clicking in my head how it works.

Is there anything additional I need to do? Is it activated as soon as your webpage is? When I type my website in google it doesn’t show up. Is there a trick to doing that? LOL these probably seem like no brainers for you guys. SOrry!! Thanks for your time.

Hi Colleen! The titles and descriptions aren’t already included. What you need to do is go to the plugins tab in your dashboard. Hit the add new button, and search for Yoast SEO. Then, install and activate. After you do so when you go to a page in the pages tab, you will notice down below the text editor area there will be the yoast SEO plugin for you to make adjustments to your title and description. Hit the edit snippet button in the yoast SEO section. Just focus on your more content rich pages for you to pull key word phrases from. Make sure to stay within character limits. You may want to cross check your keyword phrases for popularity and competitiveness in googles keyword planner. Adwords.google.com > Tools > Keyword planner. Hope this helps!
