SEO – Title Tags and Meta Descriptions
-
Hi Guys, I assumed wordpress.com would have one of the most fundamental SEO abilities – that is have a unique title tag and meta description for each page. I’m using the Adventure Theme with wordpress.com as a website. I cannot believe this is impossible? Can you help.

Hi, our philosophy is that good SEO is mostly common sense, and that the best thing a site owner can do for their discoverability is to create compelling content that readers will want.
To that end, we take care of the fundamentals aspects of it automatically, and don’t offer any specialized tools for changing things.
You can read more about our philosophy and what we recommend at http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/seo-on-wordpress-com/ and http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/seo-and-your-blog/
If you decide that you would prefer to have the ability to fully customize your site with regards to SEO, you may find that a self-hosted WordPress.org site fits your needs better than a managed WordPress.com site.
More information about the differences between the two are available at http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.
If you go that route, we do offer a free plugin for WordPress.org sites called Jetpack, which gives you many of the features of WordPress.com. More information about that is available at http://jetpack.me/
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there’s anything else I can do.
Ian
