SEO value – in having blog hosted here, and rest of site elsewhere

  I’m looking to set up a wordpress blog here using a sub-domain from our main website. Will we still get good SEO juice developing for our main site though the connections we build with the blog? In other words does it make any difference that our blog is hosted elsewhere than our main site and uses a subdomain url? (I’m hoping not!:>)
