SEO what is it?

I have been looking around WP in general, forums and blogs and this might sound like a silly question but what does it mean, SEO?

Search Engine Optimization is a technique for structuring your blog such that search engines will present your blog among the first search results for certain keywords that your want to be found for.
SEO attempts to second-guess what search phrases people use and attempts to manipulate their search results in favor of your blog.
The most important SEO always has been and always will be your content, and while applying certain techniques for SEOptimizing your blog may be great for attracting traffic in the first place, it is not so likely that it will attract regular readers. Those regular readers will come based on content. Same thing with TV, you may see an ad for a certain TVshow or a certain channel, you go there, but if the channel sucks, you switch to a different channel.
The best SEO is common sense, and it all comes down to being concious about what (key)words you use in
– Post title
– Opening paragraph of post
– Headings and subheadings
– Link texts (including neighboring words that are not linked)
– Post body
– Tags and categories
– Filenames of images
and it applies not just post-by-post, but must be a consistent and coherent effort for your blog as a whole. All keywords should be unique to your blog and content. If you care about your blog, you don’t just write (senselessly) whatever comes to your mind, but you think first, and then you write. That is all the SEO you need. Really.There are many good websites for SEO and blogging. http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com is a very good starting point, and in fact, is the source of my answer above.

Thank you t3ck I have read what timethief posted as you will know from my visits and it has been taken in, “thank you timethief” but I dont want to optimize my blog at the moment I dont need to, I just wanted to know what it ment..
