SEO – Yoast

I cannot get Yoast to work – their help site says: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/error-destination-folder-already-exists/

    Destination folder already exists.

    Cause
A plugin cannot be installed if the folder already exists. This happens when the plugin is already installed, if a file is missing or corrupt, or if you have renamed the wp-content folder.
    Solution
If the plugin appears in your plugin dashboard, please use File Transfer . Protocol (FTP) to manually update the plugin. If you don’t know what FTP is, you can contact your host.

If the plugin does not appear in the plugin dashboard, you likely have a missing or corrupt Yoast plugin file. Please delete the Yoast plugin’s folder (the folder is called wordpress-seo by default) via FTP and install a fresh copy of the plugin.

Can you tell me how to delete the folder so that I can install?
    Thank you,
    Rob Iulo

  • Hi there Rob Iulo, could you send a link to the site you’re having trouble with? I wasn’t able to see it on this account.

Noting too, these forums are for the sites hosted and managed here at WordPress.com. If you need help with an individual WordPress installation you’re running with another host, you’ll want to use the correct forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Generally speaking though the folder will be under wp-content/plugins. Your host can help you delete it if needed. Or, again if it’s hosted here with us, send a link and we’ll take a look. And, if you have a plan here that allows plugin, you’ve paid for direct chat support, which you can reach here if you’re logged in as the plan owner:
