Separate one blog site from another

Baffling questions, please not reply with baffling answer:

I have opened a site and gave it a name that is accepted. Next time I return to start building the page, I receive a message “this blog is not found” , and for a long time after the response directs me back to enter a title selection.

I enter the old title and am told it is taken. I create a new blog using the same name with addition of on extra character henceforth this has worked fine.

The crunch line is this: On day by mistake and a long time afterwards I enter the original name and bingo the site opens, and no password is required?

The site has one modification on the menu bar otherwise is without content. When I select “Home” the home page is taken to the working site home page which is a “Posting Page” with the one extra character extension but I cannot get into edit mode without being taken to edit the extended site.

The question: How is it possible to separate one from the other without messing up the working site? I know it’s a link problem, how is this link undone when my option immediately reverted to the second blog? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

I don’t see any of what you’re describing at http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/

What are the URLs of the blogs you’re referring to?

Hi macmanx. This is the original blog referred to; martindowling.wordpress.com/ the other one is the one you have found; martindowling1.wordpress.com/
I trust this will sort out the confusion. Thanks Martin

    Hello macmanx.
Taking a few moment of your time to read this. Using a different computer, not used before to open my martindowling.wordpress.com site I logged on and probably because there is no record in “cookies”…whatever, password was required. So far this is fine. One step further, I went to: manage sites and this link took me immediately to Dashboad on martindowling1 and this too seems fuzzy kind of logical normal.

But when I log-off and again log-in to martindowling, there was no choice and without selecting “manage blogs” the process took me automatically to martindowling1 blog

Do you see what I’m getting at ; the option to manage martindowling is not given. However when I go to; martindowling1 and select “manage sites”, there is no sign of martindowling. blog.

Another thing I find strange is this; both blogs accept the same password. whereas going back in time the original blog had different password. And because the first blog was seemingly lost I changed the password for the second blog.

In reality if everything is correct both blogs should still require their separate and different passwords. On a two site arrangement I don’t like “manage blogs” but would appreciate if I had master blog and many children blogs. My preference at the moment is to keep thing separate, I know where I am then. I trust this extra info makes things more transparent.
    Regards
    Martin

  • http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ does not belong to your 1martindowling account.

You’ll need to be logged in under the correct account to manage it, thecraicis90.

The only blog under your 1martindowling account is http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/

But when I log-off and again log-in to martindowling, there was no choice and without selecting “manage blogs” the process took me automatically to martindowling1 blog (Is this not indicator martindowling blog is managing martindowling1 blog?)

  • Yes, please see above.

If you log in as 1martindowling, you will only have access to http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/

You need to log in as thecraicis90 to have access to http://martindowling.wordpress.com/

“thecraicis90” I do not know this user and have no comment to make who this user might be.

The point being overlooked: martindowling blog is offering to be logged out, the opposite to this is to Log in. The site is permanently logged in, which without using the whole alphabet the implication is the user who controls martindowling blog automatically controls martindowling1 blog irrespective whether the user is myself or anyone else. When eventually I do log out, what assurance have I that the user “thecraicis90” has not retained access to my martindowling1 blog by just using the Manage Sites on the martindowling. I need definite answers as to what this problem could be and how to renovate the problem to have two separate blogs as named. I’m the owner of martindowling blog, however as said earlier, no sooner had I accessed it and made change to the menu bar that is seen as modified with the extra word “Home” entered twice, it was after making this chance the site was closed and only found again recently by accident.

  • That is the user who registered http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ in March of 2011.

If you are not thecraicis90, then http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ is definitely not your blog.

thecraicis90 does not have access to http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/ just like you don’t have access to http://martindowling.wordpress.com/

The only blog that you own and have control over is http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/

You do not own any other blogs.

Check it out. this Email is in my inbox with date posted 7/2/2011 – In my first post I stated martindowling blog was operational before martindowling1 I’m suggesting that site martindowling was hacked on or about March 11, 2011 at 5:27pm and unless wordpress had a problem at this time likely the name thecraicis90 is spoof name and the evidence points that you are wrong in your deduction which is denying me my site. This is easy way out to solve the problem. It would be interesting to know how many times the martindowling blog was accessed between 7/2/2011 after the registration of my martindowling1 site and March 2011 and particularly after this date, if ever was it again access until i reported this anomaly?

I’m sorry, there is no mention of “martindowling” in that email, but there are plenty mentions of “1martindowling” and “martindowling1.”

As you can see in the email you have pasted above, http://martindowling1.wordpress.com/ is your blog.

http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ is not your blog, it never has been. It is the property of someone else.

  • Also, just to clear the record here http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ was registered in March 2011 by user thecraicis90, and that has never changed.

The blog http://martindowling.wordpress.com/ has never belonged to your account.

It was registered by someone else, and will remain that other user’s property.

If you are thecraicis90 and can remember the password to that account, then I suppose we do have something to talk about, and I would encourage you to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and click “Need More Help?” to recover access to that account.

However, if you maintain that you are not thecraicis90 (who registered and currently owns the blog), then the blog is clearly not yours, so I’ll be closing this thread now.
