Separating a blog into separate pages by categories?

  I want to set up menu links on my home page that show, when visited, specific lists of posts (just like my blog page) based on category that the posts are in. I have a home page set up, and use it as a static home page with a link to another page that hosts my blog posts. What I want is at least one more page like the blog posts page, to use to list a specific category of items from my blog.

  For example, I would like to separate my personal posts (posts categorized ‘personal blog’) from posts about photography apps, so I’d like to have a menu item called ‘Personal Blog’ and have it set up to show a list of my posts categorized ‘personal blog’ just like the list in my main blog menu item – separate links, etc., when that menu item is clicked…not just a page, but a page formatted like the blog page.

  Does this make sense, and is this possible on wordpress.com?
