Separating blogs

  Hello,

  I am trying to separate two blogs that are currently linked. I do not want them to have the same usernames. How do I go about doing that?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi @thecuriousconjurer,

  If both your blogs are under the same WordPress.com account, then the username associated with that account will apply to all the blogs (sites) no matter what.

  What you can do is to create another WordPress.com account with a different email address (because only one email address is allowed per account). Then, export the content of the blog you want to separate to your new WordPress.com account.

  Additionally, if you also want to keep the same domain name of the blog you are transferring, you’ll need to transfer that over to you new account as well. You can do that by following the steps outlined here:

  Hello @thecuriousconjurer,

  Do you have your two blogs under your WordPress.com username thecuriousconjurer?

  I think I was able to do this on one of my blogs. I have two usernames, then all my blogs are on this current username I use. But when I create post on my one blog, I have this option at the top – http://prntscr.com/gzmgno – to choose which username I wanted to use.

  Here’s how I did it:
  1. I created a new WordPress.com account for my second username.
  2. Then I gave admin permission to that username for the blog I wanted it to be managed. See this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ *From here I selected Administrator.
  3. Then I received an email to accept the invite as Administrator and accepted it.

  Ok thanks everyone! I tried to do invite one username as the Admin but when I tried to sign back in with the email address, it kept saying that the email address already existed. So I think the best thing for me will be to create the other wordpress account w/ a different email and export the content as recommended. I appreciate everyone’s input. If I still have issues, I will report back.

  Did you invite the username associated with that email address you were trying to use to login?
