Separating Sites

    Hello!

I have run into a problem. The search option on the site searches all of the pages in the menu. I want this tool to search only the page it is on. Is this possible?

If not, I need to either separate my current site into 2 sites (how do you do copy one site’s formatting and information onto another?) or unlink the menu pages from one another so that the search function works for only the page it is on. Is this available to the free plan members, or do I need to upgrade?

    Thank you for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi –

The search widget is not designed to work that way. It will search the entire site.

See the setting options here for that widget: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/search-widget/#settings

The widget visibility could be configured to only display on certain pages, but it is still going to look through the entire site as discussed at that link ^

I don’t think you need to create multiple sites, that will be difficult to manage. Maybe I am not understanding why you need it to only search on a specific page. If it is pulling in the information that someone is looking for, it shouldn’t matter right?
