Sequential Theme: change the purple header to another color
-
Hi, I like to use the Sequential Theme. However, I need to change the color of the header. It is now purple.
Can I do this via the CCS?
Or do I need to purchase a colour upgrade?Thanks,
Olaf

Oops, hang on.
We don’t need CSS upgrade to change the header color.
We can change the header color from Apparance > Customize > Colors > Choose a Palette :-)

Hi, I have the same problem, but in my WordPress (WordPress 4.1) in the Appearance > Customize > Colors I can only change the Header Text Color. Do you perhaps know what is the problem? Thanks!

yes, but just for the Header Text Color. So, I can only change the header text color, not the color of the header itself.

The default purple color seen in the header area by default is actually a background color, which appears as a border on the header image if you add one. There is also purple background by default on the Front Page template.
Most of the color options at Customize > Color evidently require the CSS Custom Design upgrade (Premium Plan), but without the upgrade I was able to choose among three additional background colors: blue, green, and gray.

Yes, you are right! Thanks. i manage to do the same on my private wordpress site. But the problem was (and still is) on my business site, which is hosted on Ontraport, and this one apparently has a problem with the WordPress 4.1. I plan to downgrade to wp 3.7.

Sorry but that site you are referring to is not hosted WordPress.COM. Our support docs do not apply to any sites that are not hosted by WordPress.COM and we do not provide support for them. You are posting to the wrong support forum to get help with your WordPress.ORG issue. We cannot help you here.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

Use the Jetpack plugin’s custom CSS function and add:
.site-header {
background-color: #777;

As some of the volunteers have mentioned, colour palettes are only available on WordPress.com, not self-hosted WordPress sites. For your self-hosted sites, try the Jetpack Custom CSS route rzach mentioned.
