SERIOUS gallery problem after export/import, please help!! :(

    Hey… I spent the last 10 hours working on my migration from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Sadly there is a huge problem with the gallery and I really hope someone can help me out.

    To demonstrate the problem, please look at the Images in this post on my old page: https://chrisontour84.wordpress.com/2015/12/17/live-81-puerto-natales-chile/

    Then compare it to the ones in my new page: http://www.chrisontour84.de/2015/12/17/live-81-puerto-natales-chile/

    As you can see, the images are not assigned correctly. The code looks the same in both URLs, for instance for the first gallery of that post:

    So the problem seems to be with the import from the Media files. I actually had massive problems with that. Using the standard wordpress.com Export tool, I received 4 .xml files which I then imported using the “WordPress Importer” plug in. After adding a file, the screen would turn white and the import runs in the background. I googled this and came up with some php commands to show error messages, however nothing showed up there. After importing the 4 files around 4 times each, I finally ended up with the same and correct amount of posts. However, only ~2000 out of ~3000 files have been imported. I would assume that everything might be fine if all media files would be imported, however even if i run the 4 Xml files in the importer again, the amount of media files does not change anymore..

    My main question is, did anyone have this problem before using the standard tools and is there a way to fix it?

    Or can you tell me about possible other third party tools that might do a better job? I really just want to have my blog moved and I really worked hard to get it done before I fly to india in about 18 hours from now..

    Now im afraid I wont get this done in time :(

    Little update before i go to bed finally.. i kept on importing the 4 files and the first one now tells me that everything exists already. The 2nd one keeps importing media files and now I actually have 3500 in the new setup vs 3400 in the old! looking at my webhoster, it looks like each picture is sometimes uploaded 6-7 times in different dimensions. Another behavior i odnt understand.

    But despite having more pics now, the posts are still broken. I really hope somebody can help out with this :(

    Now I have just exported my pages, including the photography page: https://chrisontour84.wordpress.com/photography/

    Hoping that it would get this right at least, I then imported the pages on a new test WP install and even then, for a page with about 15 pictures, only the first 6 of them are imported and the rest is ignored: http://test.chrisontour84.de/photography/

    I really dont understand why the tools are not even handling such small files?

    Another thing I noticed is that every image is uploaded multiple times in different dimensions, as you can see here on my webhost interface ftp:

    Is that normal? Maybe this is causing the problem…
