Seriously? This is how WP deals with customer problems?
-
I’ve somehow become disconnected from my password. It was stored properly and I got into my account with the automatic setting — but only one time. When I tried to get back in a second time, the stored settings — which had not been changed — somehow weren’t working. So I hit the ‘Lost your password’? link. But to no avail. No email forthcoming. So I can;t get into my account because my password is messed up and I can;t change my password because WP won’t send me the link to do so. But even if my dilemma ultimately gets resolved I can’t help but get angry by this level of service. Is the web/domain/design world full of people who are able to sit and wait for the kind suggestion of another, better educated member of the ‘community’? Can there really be no direct way of solving such a simple of problem? No real time chat? No person on the phone? really? That’s f’n nuts if you ask me. Really nuts, really stupid, really lame. And very frustrating. In any event, enjoy your day.

Are you referring to a wordpress.COM password?
Are you referring to a wordpress.ORG password?WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Please clarify.

What I post below applies only to sites hosted by wordpress.COM. It does not apply to wordpress.ORG software installs.
You must be logged in under the exact same username that registered the site to be able to access the site. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
*Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog.
I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
If the login information has been lost go to
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-passwordIf required use the account recovery form
https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-formIf you cannot find a confirmation email please make sure your email address is correct on this page https://wordpress.com/me/account
Check your email client spam filter please and if you use Gmail or a or G Suite account see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/gmail-issues/

I’ve watched the video about changing my password. Here’s the problem, I totally understand how to change my password. But I need a link from WP in to effect that. Thus far, not link is forthcoming and I have tried it several times. The problem with these solutions is when they fail you are dead in the water. The whole system becomes a black box.

I’m on WordPress.com. Registered site. Paying customer.
That’s good news.
Let’s ask Staff to assist you with sorting this out. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. What is the URL of your site please?
-
URL is http://www.bostonvideocrews.com
I finally received a change of password email. It is a circuitous loop that leads back to the beginning every time. It asks for my password before allowing me to change my password. Since the system does not recognize my password it won’t allow me in to change my password.

Tagging for Staff removed. You won’t be needing Staff help here as bostonvideocrews.com wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting hosted by iPage, not by wordpress.COM, and we do not provide support for wordpress.ORG software installs..

Yo, Time Thief. Thanks. It’s still a really dumb system and I cannot fix my problem. But thank you for your help. I don’t think computer people (not you) fully understand how tactile learners like myself have problems with wading through the swamp of information to find solutions. In my world, I appreciate the fact that not everyone can process the way people like me are able to. So the assumption, in these forums, that it’s all right in front of us all we have to do is keep reading link after link, is frustrating. But again, thanks. I’ll ask my web designer to fix this for me.

tfahey56 – It looks like timethief has pointed you in the right direction for help. We do not have access to sites that are not hosted on WordPress.com.
