Server error, Matt's fault, or something else?

I have a private testing site which is in dire need of updating with a fresh import of the content from my active site. I’ve been trying to delete all the content from my test site, but it’s been very difficult as I keep getting errors, either brief messages or the 503’s. I’ve refreshed the page many times, cleared my history, cleared any temp files, but even now, late at night, the problem persists. Really, I have always had some problems with this test site, things are slow or they don’t function at all; but on my active site everything is fine and dandy… All I really need to concern myself with at present, though, is why I can’t simply go along and delete the content without all the hassle?
