Server isn’t responding
-
My website (sunnavonc.com) is down and I’m clueless. It showed a message yesterday saying it’s not safe due to an expired certificate. Confirmed with GoDaddy that the certificate was valid through next year. Now the site is down fully and I can’t log into my WordPress admin page with the credentials for this site.
It says: ‘can’t open the page…because the server where the page is located isn’t responding’
No idea how to work around this. Please talk to me in a language that someone who doesn’t speak coded language!

GoDaddy has parked your domain so there is a problem on their side. GoDaddy support is the only one able to sort this out.
-
Thank you for your input. I’ll get them on the phone again but according to them, it’s WordPress’ fault.
-
Just saw that my original question incorrectly refers to blindsight.wordpress.com as the website I’m having issues with.
It’s actually sunnavonc.com.

Spoke with GoDaddy and they say it’s on WordPress since they are the ones who parked my site. Now I have to figure out how to get into my profile since it someone doesn’t recognize me at all under that site (only recognizes other WP sites I have). Anyone have any tips on that?

GoDaddy says WordPress parked it. Is that possible? And if so, any clues how to access an account that it doesn’t recognize anymore?
As you can probably tell, I’m not savvy with this stuff. I so appreciate your replies!

My website (sunnavonc.com) is down and parked by either GoDaddy or WordPress — GoDaddy says WordPress parked it and I need to login to republish the site.
The 2nd layer of my issue is that I can no longer log into that WP-admin site. It doesn’t recognize my email or password. It recognizes the account I’m writing from now which was for an earlier iteration of the site, but I can’t access any of the other site.
Any ideas how to fix this? Where did my website go?? Clearly, I’m clueless with this type of stuff and would really appreciate guidance.

Hey there, I’ve merged you threads.
It’s possible you have had a copy of the free WordPress software hosted by GoDaddy. We wouldn’t be able to provide support for that, but as the site admin you would be able to log into your hosting there and adjust settings, or hire someone to fix it.
That said, the message on the site does explicitly say it’s been parked by GoDaddy. While WordPress.com can park domains that are registered here, yours isn’t. And the error isn’t really related to the free software at all.
I’d encourage you to figure out when you know your site last worked (web.archive.org shows you did have a WordPress site earlier this year), then ask your host if you can restore a backup of that. I hope they can help. But if they don’t have a backup, here’s what I’d do:
- Start a new site. I’d recommend hosting here so we can provide more help for situations like this. Yours would be a paid hosting plan, so you’d get direct chat support for anything you need with WordPress as well as our hosting: https://wordpress.com/support/start/
- Create a new page: https://wordpress.com/page
- You can pick a layout you like. Copy what content you can from this archive, or add fresh content as you’d like.
- Add more pages if you’d like, to emulate the old site’s content.
- Make any adjustments to the design, if you’d like. We also have design services if you just want someone to handle it for you.
When you’ve got everything set up again, you can launch the site and connect your domain. You’d basically change it so it points here instead of to your current host, and you’d use a hosting plan here instead. And here’s more info on the difference between the free code you used before, and our services: https://get.wp.com Let us know if we can help.

Thanks so much for your response! I’ll call GoDaddy (AGAIN, ugh) and see if they can resolve the parked issue (not sure why they say it’s WordPress’ parking).
Is there any way you could look up my account or the website address to see if it still exists? I’m very confused why I can no longer log in.

Update: GoDaddy unparked my site!! Now I’m working to rekey my certificate. But in order to do that I’ll need access to my WordPress site, which I still can’t access.

Hello there,
As GoDaddy is a separate company, we do not have access to the site or it’s details.
Now they’ve unparked the domain, are they able to connect it to the installation, with the previous or new hosting package?
They should be able to confirm the above and that would be a huge step forward in getting this all as it should be.
